Where Female Deathmoths block the route
The skull-marked giant is the hostile female
The giant body and skull-like wing pattern make this a completely different encounter from the small gray male. It rests on walls and can react to approach or direct flashlight exposure.
If a guide uses one picture and one danger label for both sexes, the survival advice will contradict itself. The female requires space, stealth, and route control.
The thermometer is telling you when to turn around
A rising number is not atmosphere—it is your early warning. At 125°F, slow down and look for the route tool. At 140°F, the Hive is too close and the better route is behind you.
The red valve releases Bug Spray gas that controls the lane. Trigger it from the safe side, wait for the barrier, and cross without shining the flashlight into the moth.

Cross narrow sections one player at a time. One player watches the thermometer or valve while the others wait behind the last cool corner; several lights and footsteps make the approach harder to read.
What ends runs: Calling the red device a steam valve. It releases Bug Spray gas; planning around “steam damage” makes the actual barrier mechanic harder to understand.

Boiler Room approach
Solo: Treat 125°F as a warning and 140°F as a hard retreat. Use the red Bug Spray Valve to form the barrier, then cross while the lane is controlled.
Co-op: The thermometer player calls exact readings. The others do not move past the cool corner until the valve player confirms the gas.
Level 8 cave crossing
Solo: Crouch before the model fills the tunnel, angle the flashlight away from the body, and pass with a return path still visible.
Co-op: Move one at a time through the bottleneck. The next player waits until the first is completely clear.
When the moth aggros
Solo: Do not keep pushing deeper. Break back toward the last safe turn or active barrier.
Co-op: The closest player retreats first. Everyone else holds the safe side instead of entering the same narrow lane.
