Boat, ladders, and the first valves

Board the floatie boat and follow the open channel. Whenever a ladder appears, climb it and turn every valve in that section before returning to the boat. A missed valve is easy to diagnose: the next barrier stays too high to cross.

Valve route in Escape the Backrooms Level 37.2 Dark Poolrooms

Clear the basement valve sets

The lower areas ask for four, then three, then seven valves. Work one named area at a time and call out a valve only after its interaction finishes. On the glass bridge, walk rather than sprint; breaking it turns a simple regroup into a restart.

When the Clump finds the group

The Clump is the encounter that changes the route. Keep the nearest ladder or water edge in mind before turning a valve. If it commits, break the chase by ducking underwater, wait for it to lose interest, then climb out and continue from the last valve your team confirmed.

  • Toxic water: use the boat for long channels; on short unavoidable crossings, keep the contact brief and climb out immediately.
  • Co-op: split only within sight of the same valve area. One player calls the remaining count, while another watches for the Clump.
  • Exit check: after the final valves, regroup before using the next transition so no player is left in a drained section.

Player route notes
Things we check before pushing ahead

We use this as the quick “don’t make the same mistake twice” checklist. If your room, spawn, or prompt does not match the video, stop and check the normal route first—patches and co-op timing can make an old shortcut look tempting when it simply will not work.

Check 01
Squat-jump technique near the raft

Make sure this is actually the step you are on. If an item or prompt is missing, backtrack one room and check the inventory first.

Check 02
Cross the micro bridge

Look around slowly before guessing. Props can hide chairs, switches, notes, and pickups; a second camera angle is usually faster than brute force.

Check 03
Cross the bridge and keep the route stable

Call out what was pressed, collected, or opened. It prevents the classic “we all thought somebody did it” reset.

Check 04
Enter Fun+ through the tubes

If a skip behaves inconsistently, leave it and take the intended route. A clean run beats getting stuck in geometry.

Multiplayer tips

At each valve section, count the valves aloud and leave one player by the water tank to confirm it filled. Do not start a timed sequence until the group knows which side it covers.
