Escape the Backrooms Mr. Kitty Entity Guide

Also known as: Kitty

Mr. Kitty is the tall black entity in Level 974, not a pink creature. It freezes while the targeted player watches, then approaches or teleports when that player looks away—and closed doors do not hold it.

How Mr. Kitty controls the doll route

Model check

Mr. Kitty is the black silhouette—not the pink room

The current model is tall and narrow, with pointed limbs, white eyes, wrinkled black skin, and no visible mouth. That is the figure you need to reacquire after a doorway or teleport.

Calling it a “pink resident” confuses the environment with the entity and makes the most basic visual check wrong.

Doll route

Every plush placement ends with another entity check

The doll audio tells you where to search, but it does not make it safe to spin the camera. Back into the chosen room, inspect a small area, and reacquire before the next threshold.

After placing a doll, stop in the lobby and find Mr. Kitty again. Because it can teleport and open doors, the last known position should never be carried forward as a fact.

The Level 974 Kitty’s House walkthrough follows the entry card, LiDAR route, five dolls, chair placements, and eye-contact hand-offs.

Field brief

What to do when Mr. Kitty moves

Keep the targeted player’s camera on Mr. Kitty while the five dolls are found and placed, using backward movement and short room checks.

01

Recognition signal

If Mr. Kitty is no longer at the last doorway, assume a teleport—not safety. It can also appear behind the player.

02

Best immediate response

Stop the doll search, reacquire the black silhouette, and back through the next threshold rather than turning away and sprinting.

03

Reset the encounter

Return to the last wide sightline, check the doorway and the space behind you, and hold eye contact before anyone resumes searching.

Co-op note

Mr. Kitty tips for co-op

The current route targets one player, and another teammate cannot satisfy that player’s eye-contact check. The targeted player watches Mr. Kitty while the others search, carry dolls, and keep the sightline clear.

What ends runs: Describing Mr. Kitty as pink because the house is pink, or treating a closed door as a permanent barrier even though it can open doors.

Spawn and pressure points

Mr. Kitty pressure points in the house

These are route-level encounter notes, not a promise that an entity will always stand in one fixed spot.

A few seconds after entering Kitty’s House

Level 974 rooms and lobby

Every doll sound pulls the camera away from the entity, while teleports and door opening invalidate old safe positions.

Counter and escape

How to maintain eye contact and search

Keep Mr. Kitty in view and move backward through thresholds. If it is missing, stop the doll search and check the last doorway and the space behind the player before continuing.

Practical run notes

Mr. Kitty route notes for solo and co-op

Use these as a short reset checklist. They describe what we change before, during, and after the encounter—not a script to follow blindly.

Check 01

Entering the house

Solo: Wait for Mr. Kitty to appear, identify the first wide sightline, and test the backward route before following a doll sound.

Co-op: Call which player it selected. That player becomes the watcher while the others divide the nearby rooms.

Check 02

Searching a doll room

Solo: Back through the door, use small camera movements to inspect one area, and restore the sightline before moving deeper.

Co-op: Searchers name the room and return path. The watcher does not turn to help unless Mr. Kitty has been safely reacquired.

Check 03

After placing a doll

Solo: Use the chair area as a checkpoint: find Mr. Kitty again before choosing the next sound.

Co-op: Keep the path between the chair and watcher clear so a returning carrier does not force a camera turn.

Mechanics in practice

Eye contact, teleports, and doors

The doll hunt is an attention problem. Reacquire Mr. Kitty before each doorway, back into rooms where possible, and keep searches short enough that the targeted player can restore the sightline before it moves too close.

Eye contact freezes it

Direct observation stops Mr. Kitty from advancing. The targeted player should use that pause to reposition rather than stare from a dead-end corner.

Doors are not safe by themselves

Mr. Kitty can open doors. A door helps shape the sightline, but only renewed observation controls the entity.

Teleports invalidate old information

After each doll placement or long search, verify the entity again. Checking behind the player is part of the reset because it can reappear there.

After-action check

Before following the next doll sound

  1. Who is the targeted player?
  2. Where was Mr. Kitty last seen, including behind the group?
  3. Can the next doll room be entered backward?
Field FAQ

Mr. Kitty questions

Quick answers for the point where a broad rule needs a concrete next action.

The current entity is black with white eyes. The pink color belongs to the house and its furnishings.

Does looking at it stop it?+

Yes. It remains still while the targeted player watches, then moves when that sightline breaks.

Can another teammate watch for me?+

In the current site video route, the target lock belongs to one player; that player must maintain the eye contact while teammates search.
